There were some laugh out loud parts, such as when Bella describes a person talking to "her" but the person has a phone pressed against their face. I also loved her references to when she was either a good dog or a bad dog. And of course, "Tiny Piece of Cheese" was awesome.

We also work to educate and advocate people in Arizona as to how much difference they make when they use their voices with our government officials. That's why the dog on the cover of the book is only part pit bull. It's a completely different series than A Dog's Purpose, and I especially loved that it is a female dog, and that maternal feelings and instincts were such a huge part of the story.

A single “woof” from a dog caught my attention, and I braked and stood in the dry, clear air, regarding the dog who had called out to me. I found the book entertaining but I did not enjoy this book as much as the other 2 that I had read.

Who owns Bella from a dog’s way home?

And I loved the fact that Bella is a girl, and that a lot of her take on things seems to come from a female understanding of life, and the importance of mothering and care taking. Lucas Ray is shocked when an adorable puppy jumps out of an abandoned building and into his arms. Though the apartment he shares with his mother, a disabled veteran, doesn't allow dogs, Lucas can't resist taking Bella home. Bruce Cameron once again captures the bravery and determination of a very good dog in the gripping sequel to A Dog’s Way Home, the acclaimed novel that inspired the hit movie! Bella was once a lost dog, but now she lives happily with her people, Lucas and Olivia, only occasionally recalling the hardships in her past. Then a weekend camping trip turns into a harrowing struggle for survival when the Rocky Mountains are engulfed by the biggest wildfire in American history. The raging inferno separates Bella from her people and she is lost once more. Alone in the wilderness, Bella unexpectedly finds herself responsible for the safety of two defenseless mountain lion cubs. More than anything, she wants to find her way home to Lucas and Olivia, but not if it means abandoning her new family to danger.

It's a book that will resonate with you long after you've turned the last page. I was randomly selected to receive a copy of this book prior to publication--I don't receive any compensation for posting this review. This element of this book, is about how dogs respond to the TANGIBLE emotions, that roll off of people. Students love the LightSail experience and naturally spend more time reading. But the movie's second half, which deals with the series of sad to seriously upsetting obstacles Bella faces once she's separated from Lucas, is overlong. And when Bella ends up with homeless Axel , things get downright depressing. The theme of veterans suffering from mental illness works in the context of service dogs, but Axel's situation seems a bit heavy for what's otherwise clearly a family-targeted film. There's a brief moment of happiness when Bella temporarily lives with a kind married couple who want to adopt her.

Lucas tries to oppose the developers from proceeding until the cats are secured, but Gunter, who is overseeing demolition, refuses to stop. He and Lucas have words, with Gunter threatening to go to war if Lucas does not back off. When Lucas refuses, Gunter reports Bella to animal control as being a pit bull. The responding animal control agent, Chuck, has been paid off by Gunter to report Bella as a pit bull, and to confiscate her, as pit bulls are an illegal breed.

Among which are things such as a single person can make a genuine difference with a little persistence and integrity and secondly do not ever judge a book by its cover. My favourite parts of this story were Bella’s memories of Mother Cat and a friend she meets along the way, Little Kitten, as well as the Veterans whose stories were shared. While this didn’t require boxes of Kleenex, it was nevertheless a heartwarming story with Cameron’s signature poignant touch.

I love reading books where dogs play an important character, probably because most of the English story books I had read as a child had dogs. This book reminded me of my favourite sheepdog book – Shadow the Sheepdog by Enid Blyton, but that is the story for some other time. Even though Bella has to hide from the neighbors and learn boring games like No Barks and Go Home, she loves her boy, Lucas. Then one day, Bella is picked up by animal control and Lucas is forced to send her to a foster home far away. She needs to go home to Lucas―and even 400 miles of dangerous Colorado wilderness won’t get in her way.

I was given the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of W. I am particularly intrigued by his ability to utilize the first-person perspective of the main character, Bella. Finally, as an animal advocate, the fact that we get to hear from the dog's point of view, the heartbreak of the unintended consequences of Breed Discriminatory Legislation is groundbreaking to me. This book might be the thing that finally gets people to see that laws banning a dog by breed a. Don't accomplish what they set out to accomplish and they cause untold harm and suffering to both people and animals. I specially enjoyed the bond between Bella and Big Kitten.

Character Strengths

Barely escaping Animal Control and nearly put down because of her forbidden pit bull status in Denver, and after some other incidents too, Bella becomes lost. Finding herself separated from her beloved Lucas, nearly four hundred miles away, Bella begins a fantastic journey, through city and wilderness, to reach him. Making friends along the way, human and not, Bella is determined to find her way back to Lucas no matter what. After Bella is picked up by Animal Control because pit bulls are banned in Denver, Lucas has no choice but to send her to a foster home until he can figure out what to do. But Bella, distraught at the separation, doesn't plan to wait. With four hundred miles of dangerous Colorado wilderness between her and her person, Bella sets off on a seemingly impossible and completely unforgettable adventure home.

A Dog’s Way Home is a delightful book written from Bella’s point of view, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Bruce Cameron’s dog books before but will put some on my To Read list.
